Israel Festival under the Sign of Israel's 60th Anniversary |

Dozens of shows, dance performances and concerts will take place during the festival, which will take place mostly in Jerusalem, as well as in other cities in Israel The Israel Festival will take place this year between May 24th and June 22nd. During the festival, Israeli productions will be performed next to prominent shows from France and Poland. The program will also include productions from Germany, Rumania, Brazil, England, the Netherlands, Hungary and other countries, and will offer the public 60 performances selected from these countries' best culture and entertainment shows. The festival will open with a new dance work, "Hydra", by Inbal Pinto and Avshalom Polak, combining eastern and western traditions. Notable are also the play "Dybbuk" (possessing spirit), performed by the TR theater group from Warsaw and the play "The Dreyfus Affair" performed by David Aroya and Perrin Roger from France. The prominent performances also includes the National Polish Theater's play "Cosmos" as well as the Russian Licendei theater group, which combines clowns and pantomime in a performance for the entire family Some of the prominent musical events include the joint concert of the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra of the Israel Broadcasting Authority and the Warsaw Philharmonic Choir, performing pieces by Brahms, Szymanowski and Mahler. More concerts will be played by the Juliard Quartet from the US, the Accordona Ensemble from Italy performing Napolitan songs, the French Les Arts Florissants ensemble performing pieces using authentic instruments, the Israeli ensemble "Phoenix" playing ancient instruments and a special concert marking 180 years to Franz Schubert's death, conducted by the pianist Gil Shohat, performed by the Jerusalem Quartet - a musical ensemble of pianos, a cello, a viola and soloists.
The dance program includes a performance by the five members of the Editta Brown Company from Austria, presenting a beautiful and erotic world by nude dancing on a surface of hot red sand. Among others, the list of dance performances includes the Dance of Pieze / Walsa, performed by the Centre Choreographique National de Caen in Normandy. The Spanish Flamenco troupe Los Vivancos presents a lively Spanish rhythm.
One of the large productions in the festival is the event paying homage to songs from Israeli cinema, taking place at the Sultan's Pool in Jerusalem, as well as a children's' performances project taking place at the plaza of the Jerusalem Theater. Most of the festival's events will take place in Jerusalem, but some will also be held in different cities in Israel, including Tel Aviv, Holon, Haifa and others.
