Ein Gev Festival for Music of Israel Marks its 64th Year |

The festival, which will take place on the shores of the Sea of Galilee during the intermediate days of Passover, will again attract thousands of music of Israel aficionados who will come to listen to the singing of gleek clubs from around Israel The Ein Gev Festival for choirs and gleek clubs will mark 64 years since it was established. The festival will take place on April 22nd-24th 2008, and like previous years, aficionados of Israeli music will participate in a social and musical gathering. The event will start with a salute to the Emek HaYarden (the Jordan River) Regional Council's gleek club, which this year celebrates 30 years since it was founded by Sarale Sharon, one of the leaders of promoting music of Israel gleek clubs and singing in public. The second evening of the festival, "Lo Nafsik Lashir" ("we will not stop singing") will be dedicated to the songs of composer and artist Dooby Zeltzer, and soloists and gleek club will participate, singing the song of this famed composer. The festival's last evening, "Kmo Tsemach Bar" ("like a wild plant"), will be dedicated to the songs of the poet Rachel Shapira. The clubs and singers will be accompanied by a musical ensemble conducted by Ilan Gilboa, the music director. For many years, the Ein Gev festival has been the leading event for music of Israel. Thousands of song aficionados arrive each year to participate in the events and to listen to the choirs and gleek clubs sing. The festival performances will be broadcasted live on the Reshet Gimel ("Network C") radio station. During the festival there will also be singing events on the promenade of Kibbutz Ein Gev. Guests will be able to book a room in the Ein Gev Resort as well as take tours and visit attractions around the Jordan Valley and the Golan Heights.
