Renown Orchestras and Musical Ensembles In Eilat's Festival for Chamber Music |

The festival will take place between February 27th and March 1st 2008. During the festival, the entire opera L'Orfeo will be presented for the first time, performed by the madrigal La Venexiana, on the 400th anniversary of the world's first opera. The Eilat Festival for Chamber Music takes place for the third time, and will hold 12 concerts which include a diverse repertoire, from baroque music through modern music, performed by renowned chamber music ensembles and soloists from around the world and from Israel. The list of festival participants includes the Mahler Chamber Orchestra with its soloist and conductor Kolja Blacher (violin), cello player Mischa Misky, pianist Dian Lesich, the Arditti Quartet, Trio Wanderer, PercaDu marimba and percussion duo, pianist Lily Maisky, the madrigal La Venexiana and the Italian countertenor Claudio Cavina. In addition, there will be a concert performed by young virtuosi, including the Jerusalem Saxophone Quartet, pianist Daniel Azrad, cello player Tlalit Charsky and pianist Victor Stanislavsky. The international festival for chamber music in Eilat was initiated by the director of "The Red Sea" music center in Eilat, Leonid Rosenberg, with the support of the Eilat municipality, the Tourism Administration and the Eilat Hotels Association.
