New Exhibitions in the Joe Alon Center in the Lahav Forest

In the site's small gallery stand Dora Kaspo's painting exhibition "So Red" and two photo exhibitions of the life of the Bedouins selected from the works of the late researcher Shabtai (Shabo) Levi and from the works of Alter Fogel who photographed researcher Sason Ben-Tsvi's amulet collection.

Dora Kaspo's works include paintings of flowers and of the Negev landscape. They were painted on unusual substrates using a special technique of combining types of paint with thinners. As a result, the paintings have a depth and layers that are not usually found with watercolors, chalks and suchlike. The exhibition displays pieces in shades of red, such as fire-colored poppies, a girls' red hair, the magenta of treetops, a red newspaper headline and more. In addition, there is a display of three pieces that describe the artist's life, from the Holocaust through immigration to Israel and her integration in agricultural work.

The exhibition of researcher Shabtai (Shabo) Levi includes 15 photos, which are but a fraction of the thousands of photos of the life of the Bedouins in the Sini Desert. The photos deal with the Bedouin family in their natural surroundings and their beliefs. Besides these exhibits, there is a display of photos by photographer Alter Fogel who photographed researcher Sason Ben-Tsvi's amulet collection. Part of the amulet collection is in the collection of the Bedouin Culture Museum at the Joe Alon Center.

The exhibitions will be on display until March 31st 2008.
