"The World's Largest Israeli Flag Brought to Israel by a Philippine Businesswoman

The flag may enter the Guinness book of world records as the largest flag in the world.

The Philippine businesswoman Grace Glinda-Gofna initiated and funded the sowing of the largest Israeli flag in the world. Glinda-Gofna is known for her fondness of Israel, and she carried out the project to mark 50 years of a friendly relationship between Israel and the Philippines, and therefore she also plans to bring a huge flag of her own country to Israel, and place it next to the Israeli flag.

The huge Israeli flag was unfurled by dozens of teenagers from the Tamar Local council in the Massada airport site a few days ago, in the presence of the Minister of Tourism, Mr. Yitzhak Aharonovitch. The sowing of the flag lasted three weeks, and was done by 6 seamstresses, assisted by 40 volunteers and directed by two designers. It weighs 5,200 kg, and reaches the size of two soccer fields, twice the size of the American Super Flag, which holds the record for the largest flag in the world.

The Ministry of Tourism and the Israel Nature and National Parks Protection Authority will incorporate the gigantic flag in the events planned for Israel's 60th anniversary.
