The Israeli Tourist Industry holds the Israel Phototour 60 Project

As part of the project, tourists and sightseers from around the world are invited for an Israel travel photo and video contest, on the subject of Israeli tourism in the country's 60 years.

The leading tourism organization in Israel, including Israel Incoming Tour Operators Association, Israel Tourist and Travel Agents Association, Israel Hotel Association, El Al, the Israel Nature and National Parks, Israel Tour Guides Association, Keren Kayemeth Leisrael (the Jewish National Fund) and the Society for the Protection of Nature in Israel.

The project intends to attract thousands of participants from both Israel and around the world. Its purpose is to display the delightful treasures of the country, its views and sites through photographs and videos.

The "Israel Phototour 60" project will be divided into two stages. The first stage started on the 14th of December 2007, and is intended for people working in the Israeli tourist industry. The industry's personnel will be invited to display their selected photos in the still photo category and their videos in the video category. Each photographer will be allowed to submit 3 selected items related to views, places, sites, nature, tourist events, festivals and similar subjects in each category. The photographs and video clips will be uploaded to the project's website www.phototourcup.com, and from these, the 3 winning pieces will be selected in each category.

The public will be invited to rate the selected pieces in each category. Winners will receive cameras presented by "Aloda", the "Olympus" importer in Israel. The winners of this stage of the contest will be announced as part of the IMTM 2008 tourist fair in Tel Aviv.

The second part of the contest will begin during March 2008. At this stage, tourists, visitors to Israel and residents of Israel touring the country will be invited to submit their works in two sections: an international section for overseas participants and a section for residents of Israel.

Participants will be able to upload photos and videos to the project's website on subjects such as Israel's views, tourist sites, holy places, architecture, tourism activities and similar topics. The public will be invited to rate these works. Declaration of the winners of the overseas contest will take place in November 2008. Winners of the overseas tourists section will receive flight tickets to Israel, presented by El Al, and a week's vacation in Israel, presented by the Israel Incoming Tour Operators Association.

Near the start of the overseas competition, the Israeli Nature & Natural Parks Protection Authority will distribute thousands of "Israel Phototour 60" booklets to Israeli and overseas tourists. The booklets will have explanations about the competition and about Israel's tourist industry.

After the competition ends, in spring 2008, selected photos and videos from the competition will be displayed in a special exhibition.

The photographs and videos can be viewed and rated in the competition's website: www.phototourcup.com and in the competition's pages on the www.travel-shot.com website.
